Dr. J. Adam Shoemaker (“Dr. Shoe”) is an assistant professor of Human Resource Management in the Donald R. Tapia School of Business at Saint Leo University. He joined the full-time faculty in the Fall of 2010.

Dr. Shoe earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology from Georgia College & State University and his Doctorate in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida.
Dr. Shoe has been an internal HR consultant with several large corporations including Verizon Wireless, Watkins Motor Lines, and Federal Express. He has also done private employment consulting with local agencies including the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Prodigy Cultural Arts Program, and the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County.
Dr. Shoe has taught psychology and business courses at the University of South Florida, Saint Leo’s MacDill Center, and Pasco-Hernando Community College. He also operates his own small business consulting firm, Shoemaker Way Consulting Associates.
His professional and research interests include work/life balance, the psychometrics of employment testing, and issues of disability and accommodation in the employment process.
