Research Interests
My areas of research interest include multiculturalism and culturally diverse education and therapy, personality and abnormal psychology, geropsychology, history and systems of psychology, and research methodology, psychometrics, and statistics. My current work also involves psychometric issues and the ongoing debate surrounding statistical significance testing. Additionally, my recent work has involved issues related to personality assessment and job performance and the application of statistical methods to neuropsychological assessment. Finally, an area of very recent interest includes the use of models of sensation seeking to predict substance use and abuse in adolescents and young adults.
Community Service Activities
I have been very involved with the Psychology Club and psychology student activities, including coordinating fundraising efforts to take psychology students to regional psychological association meetings. I am the coach and faculty sponsor for the college bowl team, and also actively recruit students to participate in local and regional tournaments. I have volunteered my time for the past several years in conducting neuropsychological evaluations with veterans at the Tampa VA Hospital.
Hobbies & Interests
I have a broad range of hobbies and interests outside of the realm of psychology and academe. I am an avid motorcyclist and enjoy working on cars, motorcycles, and other machinery. I play tennis, golf, and other sports when I have the chance. Other outdoor activities of interest include camping, hiking, and mountain biking. And pleasure reading is always an enjoyable activity for me.
