Phil Hatlem is an instructor of Sport Business in the Donald R. Tapia School of Business at Saint Leo University.

Hatlem holds a Masters in Sport Management from The Ohio State University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in History and Philosophy of Sport and Physical Education from Purdue University.
Prior to joining the university, Hatlem was Chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he taught Sport Management and Health for seven years.
Before entering academia, he worked for ten years in the field of athletic administration, mostly in ticketing and facility management at various NCAA Division I institutions.
Hatlem's professional and research interests include the historical and cultural forces that have shaped our sporting landscape and how we may apply those forces to address issues facing the industry today. He has presented at various conferences throughout North America.
Hatlem has worked as a volunteer for major sporting events in the Tampa Bay region, including the PGA Tour, NCAA Final Four, and the Super Bowl. He also serves as the faculty advisor for the Sport Business student major association.
