Saint Leo University students in Florida have a wealth of library resources available for their research needs. The University provides a librarian for reference assistance; online databases with full text journal articles and additional library services provided by Cannon Memorial Library at the university campus. Many local public and academic libraries are open to students as well. Saint Leo University is committed to providing readily available, quality materials to all its students. This guide contains details for these resources in order to facilitate student research.

  • All LSCC libraries provide print and electronic book collections and electronic access to current periodicals and newspapers.

  • The Leesburg library provides back issues of periodicals and newspapers in microform, and is a U. S. Government Documents Depository.

  • LINCC, the Florida community college library network, provides LINCC Search, the online catalog for LSCC libraries and 27 other Florida public community colleges.

  • LINCC is available from any Internet-capable computer in the library.

  • SLU students who are residents of Lake County but are not currently registered LSCC students may purchase an annual community borrower's library card for $7.50. A Florida operator's driver's license showing a Lake County address must be presented. See your academic advisor about reimbursement for the cost of the card. Does not include remote access to LINCC.

  • SLU students who are residents of Sumter County but are not currently registered LSCC students may present a valid Sumter County Library System library card and a Florida operator's driver's license and receive a community borrower's card at no charge. The card is valid for one year and is renewable by presenting a valid Sumter County Library System library card. Does not include remote access to LINCC.

  • Other hours are available by arrangement; contact Michael Geddes, Coordinator of Instructional Technology and Media Services, at the number above.

  • The IRC offers a number of resources to teachers and staff related to instructional technology. These include videotapes and videodisks, audio/visual equipment, video production center (where teachers can create their own videos), audio production center, and computer resources such as scanners and digital video cameras.

  • Other resources available from the IRC for teachers and staff include laminating, Ellison Letter-Cutting machines, transparency making, desktop publishing tools, and computer labs for "hands on" training

  • Of special interest to SLU students is the Professional Library which houses books, professional periodicals and journals, and reference resources such as ERIC and Education Index.

  • General information

  • Users with a valid Citrus County library card may check out items from Desoto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Levy, Marion, Okeechobee, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties.

  • Free library cards are available to all residents of the Citrus County Library District.

  • To obtain a card, visit any Citrus County Library System branch location and show a form of identification with a current local address such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or county business license.

  • Non-residents may purchase a three-year library card for $10.00.

  • The Lake County Library System is a cooperative library system which provides free library services to all residents of Lake County, FL.

  • The library system includes six affiliated member/municipal libraries: Fruitland Park, FL, Library; Lady Lake, FL, Public Library; Leesburg, FL, Public Library; W.T. Bland Public Library, Mount Dora, FL; Tavares, FL, Public Library; and Umatilla, FL, Public Library.

  • The system also contains six branches: Astor County Library, Astor, FL; Citrus Ridge County Library, Clermont, FL; Cooper Memorial Library, Clermont, FL; East Lake County Library, Sorrento, FL; Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library, Groveland, FL; Paisley County Library, Paisley, FL.

  • Libraries provide access to books, magazines, newspapers, audio books, videos, CD-ROMs, Internet-ready computers, as well as reference services and inter-library loans.

  • The libraries have a reciprocal borrowing agreement with Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia Counties that extends borrowing privileges for patrons of both library systems, which allows use of these libraries without paying a non-resident fee.

  • The Clark Maxwell Branch is closest to SLU classes on the Lake-Sumter Community College campus.
