Saint Leo University students in Florida have a wealth of library resources available for their research needs. The University provides a librarian for reference assistance; online databases with full text journal articles and additional library services provided by Cannon Memorial Library at the university campus. Many local public and academic libraries are open to students as well. Saint Leo University is committed to providing readily available, quality materials to all its students. This guide contains details for these resources in order to facilitate student research.

  • SLU students must present a validated SLU fee receipt, or your name must appear on the SLU student roster, before you will be issued a SJRCC-SLU library card.

  • SLU instructors must appear on the SLU faculty roster to obtain a SJRCC library card.

  • Apply for SJRCC library card at any branch by completing the application form at the Circulation Desk.

  • SLU students and faculty must revalidate their SJRCC-SLU library cards every semester.

  • SLU students with a valid SJRCC-SLU library card may use the computer labs according to the terms of the university’s articulation agreement. Present card to lab assistant.

  • SLU students may use online resources in the library only; use SLU library for remote access to online resources.

  • A special Web page for SLU students has been added to the SJRCC library Web site. Consult the page for up-to-date information.

  • Your SJRCC-SLU library card permits you to check out books and related print materials and A/V circulating materials.

  • Use of the periodicals and A/V equipment is restricted to the library.

  • St. Johns County residents may apply for free library cards from Clay, Nassau, and Putnam county library systems.

  • Most branches require patrons to sign in for Internet and computer use. Check individual branch for details.

  • Card holders may access the county’s online resources at a branch library or from home using the ID number on the card.

  • Library computers are for research purposes only; no communications programs allowed.

  • Library cards are free for Clay County residents and property owners with proof of residency, such as driver’s license, voter’s registration card, or utility bill.

  • Clay County Public Libraries have reciprocal borrowing agreements with residents of Alachua, Bradford, St. Johns, and Putnam counties. Residents of these counties may obtain a free library card as described for Clay County residents.

  • All other non-county residents may purchase a special borrowers card for $40 a year. The card does not allow remote access to resources.

  • Patrons may use library computers; some branches impose time limits; check with individual branch for details.

  • Patrons may not load personal software on library computers.

  • During high-demand periods, non-affiliated patrons must defer access to UNF students, faculty, and staff.

  • SLU students are welcome to use the resources on site only.

  • To borrow materials from the UNF library, please contact the Saint Leo University library to arrange Interlibrary Loan.

  • Any student not affiliated with the State University System or the Florida Community College System is specifically excluded from applying for a fee-based borrowers card.

  • The only non-affiliated patrons who may purchase a special borrowers card are business professionals or other professional researchers living or working within the UNF service area who provide a business card or letterhead statement of research need.

  • Special borrowers cards are $50 and do not provide remote access to electronic resources or free parking.
