Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The courses required for the 39-hour major reflect the diversity of the many subfields in psychology. Required courses are designed to provide students with a well-rounded education in the discipline while affording students the ability to tailor their education to meet individual needs. Graduates of the program are prepared for advanced study in psychology and related disciplines as well as employment in professional entry-level positions in human service settings and mental health facilities. A psychology major is also an excellent way for students to prepare for careers in law, business, human resources management, advertising, and sales. Psychology majors are encouraged to become involved in research and/or to complete a practicum or internship in the field.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The courses required for the 53-hour bachelor of science psychology major reflect the diversity of the many sub-fields in psychology with an intensive research component. Required courses are designed to provide students with a well-rounded education in the discipline while affording students the ability to tailor their education to meet individual needs. Many of the courses allow students to engage in advanced research training and experience that will prepare them for graduate study at both the master's and doctoral levels. Graduates with a B.S. degree are better prepared for advanced study in psychology and related disciplines as well as employment in professional entry-level positions in human service settings and mental health facilities. The psychology major is also an excellent way for students to prepare for careers in law, business, human resources management, advertising, and sales.
