Florida’s Department of Education Office of Educator Preparation recognizes teacher preparation programs that meet specific quality indicators by granting them the status of “Program Approval.”  Graduates from approved programs are eligible for a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate.

Saint Leo University currently has 11 approved teacher preparation programs and an approved Educational Leadership program.  The Office of Program Approval is responsible for keeping these programs in compliance with state expectations and for working with the undergraduate department of education and graduate studies in education faculty members to keep curriculum and reporting current.

Foliotek

Undergraduate Education students:

The Individual Accomplished Practices Assessment System or IAPAS (pronounced eye-pass) is a formal assessment system that allows students in our state-approved Elementary and Middle Grades Education programs to demonstrate their mastery of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs). IAPAS is described in the Student Handbook for undergraduate students. IAPAS is housed in Foliotek, an online portfolio software that you can access via the 'eCollege' tab inside the My Saint Leo portal (https://my.saintleo.edu/portal/main.html). Florida State teacher education program approval requires that students in the Elementary and Middle Grades Education programs upload certain assignments in each education course to IAPAS.

The Individual Principal Leadership Assessment System is a formal assessment system that allows students in our state-approved Educational Leadership program to demonstrate their mastery of the Florida Principal Leadership Standards (FPLS). The Assessment System is described in online courses for graduate students. The Assessment System is housed in Foliotek, an online portfolio software that you can access via the 'eCollege' tab inside the My Saint Leo portal (https://my.saintleo.edu/portal/main.html). Florida State education leadership program approval requires that students in the Educational Leadership program upload certain assignments in each education course to the Assessment System in Foliotek.
