The new email system is up and running. You may access new email on
http://mail.saintleo.edu, old email on
http://oldmail.saintleo.edu (or in the Outlook folder on your computer). If you want to run part one of the instructions on the email instructions page, that’s fine; once you do that successfully, you'll be getting your new email in Outlook on your computer. Please do not do step two from home. You can also update your smart phone with the instructions on that page.
This page contains notes and documentation on setting up Outlook, using Webmail, and syncing with phones and other devices.
Please see information below on training for the new features of Outlook.

Training on new Outlook features
It is important that we begin to prepare to fully utilize the various features that this upgrade affords us.
- The Outlook calendar, when used effectively, can help you schedule meetings, appointments, events, and allow you to see the schedules of those you want to invite to these activities. Many other features provide additional efficiencies.
- New Instant Search and Advanced Find features will assist you in managing your email.
- Adding contacts, creating distribution lists will also be valuable time savers when used properly.
So, how do you get started learning what’s new, different, or even what you didn’t know you’ve had all along? There are three Web-based modules (MindLeaders Central – Portal / Training / View All Learning Resources / Outlook 2007) that we recommend at this time:
- Outlook 2007 – Using the Calendar,
- Outlook 2007 – Organizing e-mail
- Outlook 2007 – Using the Calendar.
We will also be providing short, one-hour, small group training sessions (SF 003 and available via VTT). Watch the Professional Development training calendar and Monday Newsbytes for dates and times. We are also available for 1:1 training.
Two things to be aware of as we implement this new version of Outlook:
- The Calendar is a very valuable tool – but it really takes ALL of us using it effectively to make it valuable. If we are not entering information onto our calendars, then others won’t have the right information to work with when trying to schedule meetings, events and so forth. Be a good role model – use the tools that we have and work to assist others to use them also.
- When dragging old email up to the server (or archiving), remember that you are using up server space. Work to be efficient, and thoughtful about what really needs to be saved, and for how long. Be a responsible steward of the hardware resources that we have. Toss what makes sense.

Note for Communigate users
If you are using Communigate for shared calendaring, additional steps will have to be performed in order to be setup to the new mail system. If you are currently using a shared calendar (i.e. another person or persons can view and/or change your calendar directly) please email
helpdesk@saintleo.edu. Additional information will be provided closer to the cut over date.
- Tools then Account Settings
- In the Account Settings window your email account type will be listed as MAPI.
Non-Saint Leo email accounts in Outlook
This procedure will remove any connections to non-Saint Leo email accounts that you may currently have configured for Outlook. It will not remove any email messages from any email account. Please note that while you can restore these connections, these email accounts will not be supported by UTS
