August 15, 2010 — Just two days into their preseason conditioning, the Saint Leo women’s soccer team got a tough preseason test as they squared off against the Mexican Under-17 (U-17) on Tuesday morning at University Field. The final score was 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
The Mexico National U-17 futbol team is one of the younger teams in the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol featuring some of the finest junior talent Mexico has to offer. The team has clinched a spot in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Championship and competed in two games regionally prior to their meeting with the Lions. Mexico dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of South Florida last Saturday before falling 4-1 to Florida Gulf Coast University on Sunday.
