How can I get onto a military base to get to Saint Leo University if I am a civilian?

  • Civilian students are encouraged to visit our Chesapeake Office at the Beco Corporate Center, 609 Independence Parkway, Chesapeake, Mon-Friday 9:00a.m. - 6:00pm. Call 382-7599
  • Saint Leo University can issue a visitor’s day pass to non-DOD civilians to come onto a military base to talk to an advisor, get information about Saint Leo University and to register for classes.
  • Once a civilian student is registered for a class on a particular base, s/he will be able to obtain a semester pass for access to that respective base until the end of the semester. Civilian students must get a new pass each semester.
  • Semester passes are generally available at the respective pass office on the Friday afternoon just prior to the beginning of each semester. Students who register early in the registration period may have access to their pass earlier than the Friday prior.

What will I need to have with me when I go to the pass office to get a pass to get onto a military base?

  • Picture ID such as your driver’s license
  • Vehicle registration
  • License plate number
  • Make/model/color of vehicle
  • Verification of current state inspection
  • Verification of automobile insurance
  • Citizenship papers for Naturalized Citizens

What should I do if I am a Saint Leo University student and an active duty military member, but I get out of the military while enrolled?

Any changes in status, i.e. active duty to civilian must be made with Gwen Mikeals at the Naval Amphibious Base. You will be required to obtain a non-DOD civilian pass at the beginning of the semester that your status changes. See individual base information for specifics.

Can I take courses online?

Yes, through our Distance Learning Program and Center for Online Learning you will find a variety of majors to choose from that allow you to take classes at the location and time of your convenience.

Is Saint Leo a public or private institution?

Saint Leo is a private, liberal arts university founded in 1889 and is Florida's oldest Catholic institution of higher education.

How can I find a phone number for a specific office, department, faculty or staff member?

How can I request a transcript?

You may request a transcript by filling out the transcript request form. There is a $5 fee for each official transcript.

Each request must contain the student's name, Social Security number, and the following specific information:

  • The program in which you were enrolled
  • When you attended
  • If you graduated
  • Your graduation date
  • The number of transcripts you want
  • Where they are to be sent
  • Phone number (so we may contact you, if necessary).

How do I order a replacement/duplicate diploma?

Replacement/duplicate Saint Leo University diplomas are available to all Saint Leo College and University graduates. To order a replacement/duplicate Saint Leo University diploma, send a written request to:
