Office of the President

Welcome to the Saint Leo University website. Whether you are a current student, a prospective student, a parent, or an interested member of the community, we hope you enjoy exploring this site and learning about all that Saint Leo has to offer.

Our university has a very interesting history. Founded in 1889, Saint Leo is rooted in the rich 1,500-year-old Benedictine tradition. We are proudly Catholic, but we welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds, instilling in those who work and study here the six core values that guide us in all that we do.

Today, Saint Leo educates traditional-age college students at University Campus, just north of Tampa, FL; adult learners at education centers located in seven states; and students all over the world via our Center for Online Learning. In total, we serve more than 16,000 students—many of them active-duty military or veterans—making Saint Leo the third-largest Catholic college in the United States. Although we are global, we remain one university focused on our student-centered mission and boast classes that average only 15 students in a classroom.

Saint Leo University has embraced innovation and technology, always looking for the best and most effective ways to educate our students. However, we remain a liberal arts–based institution. We encourage our students to learn to think critically, write clearly, and communicate thoughtfully, preparing them to graduate from Saint Leo and make their mark through both their personal and professional lives.

Thank you for visiting this website and learning more about Saint Leo. I also encourage you to visit one of our locations in person, if you have not done so already. You will find that Saint Leo offers a wonderful environment for students to grow, not only as scholars but as citizens of the world.
