Teaching & Professional Interests:

Although I often teach library sessions that are based on the acquisition of research skills, my true interests lie in developing library instruction activities that help students become information literate; that is, comfortable using information resources to retrieve necessary information once they have articulated their needs and determined how best to fulfill those needs. This process can be difficult and requires a great deal of introspection, critical thinking, and reflection, so I am particularly interested in the ways that first-year students apply the research process to specific course assignments and then adapt those skills to meet their research needs in other courses.

  • Florida Library Association Exemplary Learning Design Award, 2011
