Dr. Murphy is originally from Illinois and has been a member of the Saint Leo Community since the fall of 2015. He studied mathematical physics at The University of Iowa where he earned his PhD in 2009. Dr. Murphy has taught a variety of courses throughout the mathematics curriculum including College Mathematics, Finite Mathematics, College Algebra, Differential Equations and Calculus II & III. He enjoys helping students make connections between the mathematics of the classroom and the mathematics that surrounds us every day and using mathematical modeling to better understand the world around us. He is also very interested in studying and improving the way mathematics is taught in middle school and high school.
