Jerome Williams developed the chemistry curriculum at Saint Leo University with particular emphasis on active learning. His philosophy on teaching involves assisting students as they progress toward becoming life-long learners. Helping students construct their own knowledge paradigm, based on active learning and interaction with course content in the classroom and laboratory is the ultimate educational goal. Jerome Williams has created web-based versions for all his courses, actively worked with the library to increase the number and variety of scholarly journals in science, authored proposals to procure new chemistry instrumentation and renovate the chemistry laboratories. He has given presentations at local and state conferences in chemistry, mathematics, and science teaching. Jerome Williams has served the department and university in multiple roles that include being a university senator, faculty advisor, pre-health professions advisor (2003-2007), and department health and safety officer (2001-2010) where he authored the chemical hygiene plan, departmental safety procedures, and laboratory safety rules.
