Dr. Caldwell is an Associate Professor of Economics and Department Chair. A member of the Saint Leo Community since 2006, Dr. Caldwell has taught both undergraduate and graduate economics courses and was instrumental in (re) offering the Bachelor of Arts in Economics during the 2013-2014 academic year. Before obtaining her PhD, Dr, Caldwell spent 10 years working as a supervisor and manager in manufacturing operations. She brings this experience into the classroom to assist students with making the connection between course work and real world applications of economics.

Teaching & Professional Interests:

Dr. Caldwell’s teaching interests are in the areas of applied microeconomics including the area of health economics. Her professional and research interests include nursing home quality and access to care, the impact of mathematical ability on success in principles of economics classes, and active learning in the classroom. She has co-authored two articles in the last year with colleagues from other disciplines. She attends conferences focused on teaching and recently attended the critical thinking conference to enable her to further develop the critical thinking skills of Saint Leo students.
