Dr. Clayton teaches and researches in the area of management. His research on work-life balance has been published via the Harvard Business Review and has been mentioned in such popular-press outlets as NBC News, CNBC, USA Today, Fast Co., Inc., and the Huffington Post.

In addition, he has had the opportunity to publish research on work-life balance in high-quality academic journals (e.g., Human Resource Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior) and present at academic conferences such as the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association. Dr. Clayton also enjoys researching management history and writing case studies.

Teaching & Professional Interests:

Teaching in the college classroom is a passion for Dr. Clayton. He enjoys discussing many of the topics that fall underneath the management umbrella. In particular, he likes to bring topics from the “soft side” of management, such as personality, emotional intelligence, and work-life balance, to the forefront of class discussions. Dr. Clayton also strives to get his students to think critically about their assumptions and values, as these influence how they make decisions in daily life and in the workplace. He teaches in the undergraduate, MBA, and DBA programs at Saint Leo University.
