Dr. Dean has been twice honored as Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and Educators. His paper titled, “Are Academic Institutions Meeting the Needs for Derivatives Accountants?,” co-authored with Dr. Braswell and Ms. Cope, won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference of the Business Economics Institute. In 2012, he was honored with the Maura Snyder Outstanding Faculty Member Award. He was also honored as the Outstanding Club Advisor in 2011. Dr. Dean’s research interests include fraudulent and ethical issues, international accounting issues, accounting for derivatives, and student learning. He has published articles in various journals including the Journal of Academic and Business Ethics, International Journal of Business and Social Science, and Review of Higher Education and Self-Learning. He also wrote a book titled, Analyzing and Understanding Annual Reports: Workbook for Financial Analysis. He also has more than 15 years of corporate accounting and finance experience.

Teaching & Professional Interests:

Dr. Dean teaches numerous courses including, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, International Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Finance for Managers, Accounting Theory, and Advanced Cost Accounting. Additionally, he consults with Gleim Publication Inc., an organization that publishes educational review materials for candidates pursuing professional certifications, such as the CPA, CMA, and CIA.

Dr. Dean’s primary goal is to help students reach their full potential while learning the information they need to become successful individuals, social citizens, and employees. He accomplishes this goal by learning who is students are and figuring out unique ways to help them achieve their goals.
