Dr. Amina Abdullah is the Chair of the Undergraduate Human Services program as well as an Assistant Professor. She holds a PhD in Human Services and a Master's degree in Management. Dr. Abdullah gained over 20 years of combined practical experience as an educator and human services professional from positions held in academia, telecommunications, health care, and health insurance. Her specialties are counseling and case management. In her current role, she teaches, organizes community services initiatives, and service learning experiences for students enrolled in Virginia region of the human services program.

Her teaching interest include organizing service learning activities which provide students with the opportunity to engage in experiential learning outside of the classroom. She serves on the advisory board for John Amos' Halley's Comet Foundation, the Southern Organization for Human Services board as the State Representative at Large for Virginia and is the founder of the PhD Sisters Support Group on Facebook and the Capella Chapter with Capella University. In addition, she is a published author of several scholarly works which include articles in peer reviewed journals as well as the series "Their Journey to the PhD", a collection of stories from women who earned a doctoral degree. She is committed to mentoring, advocating for, and empowering young women.
