Dr. Boone-Thornton began her career at Saint Leo University as an adjunct professor in the Human Services department teaching HUS-340, HUS-311, and HUS-312. Dr. Boone-Thornton has worked with children and families in the field of mental health for over 20 years. As the Director of Children Services at a mental health center in Alabama, she coordinated and developed therapeutic treatment programs for children in three counties. Dr. Boone-Thornton worked as the Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor for residential treatment facilities and a community home-based program in Virginia. She was employed with the Hampton Newport News Community Services Board in the Therapeutic Day Treatment program with Hampton City Schools.

Research Interests:

  • Help adult learners realize their true academic potential while juggling family and work obligations.
  • Promote community gardening programs so that at-risk communities can utilize this holistic approach to wellness and healing and improving the communities where they live.
