Dr. Joanne Marciano Crossman joined Saint Leo University’s faculty as Professor of Education in 2012, following 23 years as a professor, curriculum designer, and educational leader at Johnson & Wales University in RI. There, Dr. Crossman was a professor in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs and was named Graduate School Educator of the Year. She also provided oversight of curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, chaired critical committees, and mentored beginning teachers.

Her work at Saint Leo includes teaching in the graduate education program. She has designed and teaches health and wellness courses on-ground and on-line, is academic advisor to the women’s lacrosse team, and oversees and provides pedagogical support to adjunct instructors teaching health and wellness courses.

Dr. Crossman earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership; C.A.G.S. in Higher Education Curriculum/Administration; M.Ed. in Health Education; B.A. in Communication, two FL Professional Educator’s Certificates, as well as numerous certifications in education and health.

She has delivered more than 60 scholarly presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. She further maintains active scholarship through her publications and research in the fields of assessment, teaching and learning, and wellness education.

She received a number awards as a Toastmaster, and for her community service work; championing student outreach initiatives with more than 50 not-for-profit organizations.
