Biography:
Dr. Mukherjee received her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in Curriculum and Instruction, with emphasis on Applied Linguistics and Instructional Technology/Instructional Design. She has trained teachers in the State of Florida in ESOL infusion and in technology integration. At Saint Leo University (SLU) she has designed and taught several courses in undergraduate and graduate ESOL, but her current work is with the graduate program in Instructional Design, and in the Ed.S. Program. At SLU, she also coordinates the ESOL and the Instructional Design program. Dr. Mukherjee has multiple experiences with academic program review processes including the graduate program in Instructional Design program and the Instructional Leadership programs. Her current area of research and interest include innovative and research-based instructional design practices, such as gamification; MOOC facilitation, reading strategies for ELLs, cross-cultural implications for instructional design and academic language development in English language learners.  Dr. Mukherjee keeps current with involvement in K-12 schools, presentations at local, national, and international conferences, journal publications and an active membership in department and university-wide committees.

  • Volunteer tutor for English Language Learner at Tampa Palms Elementary – currently working with a second grader non-English speaker

Teaching & Professional Interests:
Dr. Mukherjee’s teaching interests are about increasing student engagement in the online classroom, enhancing instructional design features of online courses that make course pedagogy effective. Her professional interests include innovative and research-based instructional design practices, such as gamification; MOOC facilitation, cross-cultural implications for instructional design and academic language development in English language learners.
