Biography:
Specializations are in Gerontology; Traumatology, Post-Traumatic Stress; Disaster Relief Work; and International Hospice. Area of concentrations: Global Studies; Issues of Diversity, specifically Native American Cultures; Health Care; Military and International Social Work. Developed and taught new courses in Gerontology; Global Issues in Social Work, and Family Systems. Developed and taught blended and online courses for the undergraduate BSW and graduate online MSW program; and developed a Certificate in Gerontology in blended/online format. Research interests: Reducing homelessness in Pasco County; Emerging Technologies and the use for teaching on ground and online; survey research to evaluate BSW students on Native American Cultures. Publication highlights: A Quantitative Analysis of Student Critical Thinking Learning Aids (pilot study). Mind Body Health-Practical implications for law enforcement officers (Public Safety Chronicle); Meditation (in Encyclopedia of Trauma); School and University Partnerships in Education and Social Work (FL Association of School Social Workers); Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness in Pasco County.

Teaching & Professional Interests:
Teaching on ground and blended courses. Using “Emerging Technologies” to enhance teaching social work practice courses. Awarded a grant for a Native American Medicine Wheel “Peaceful Reflections Garden” designed the garden with students to create a Native American Medicine Wheel at the Saint Leo University. Plan every May SERVE Trips with students since 2011 to serve Native American Cultures in Arizona; and San Fidel, New Mexico; and with the Military. Community and Service Learning work with students and Therapy Dogs in nursing homes and schools. Advising and recruiting students. National and international teaching and public speaking in the United States and in Europe.
