Biography:
Debra E. Thrower is an Instructor of Undergraduate Social Work in the School of Education and Social Sciences. She has been an adjunct since 2011, prior to joining Saint Leo University community as a full-time faculty. She is also a registered clinical social worker intern. She has over 25 years of community-based experience in not-for-profit sector with underserved populations. Her professional background also includes social worker services at the Veterans Administration, where she assisted homeless veterans and their families. Her research interests include Resilience Characteristics in Non-Traditional Undergraduate Social Work Students.

Teaching & Professional Interests:|
Debra teaches undergraduate social work courses: Introduction to Social Work, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Methods of Social Work Practice I-III, Gerontology, Diversity Issues in Social Work, Field Practicum in Social Work, and Senior Seminar Social Work. She integrates the guiding principles of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics in her teaching. Through her inspirations, she encourages students to incorporate their personal, professional, and academic successes.
