Biology Boot Camp

A Biology Major Prep Intensive

August 12 – August 17, 2017

There are many exciting changes happening in the Biology Program, which make this a fantastic time to be a part of the University’s newest Flagship Program. These changes include the recent implementation of a Biology Boot Camp geared toward helping our incoming biology students better adapt to the demands of undergraduate learning.

Biology is one of our most popular majors on campus, but it is also among the most challenging disciplines to pursue. Students often find that the study habits that worked for them in high school are not sufficient to realize the high grades they are aiming for in college level biology coursework. The Biology Boot Camp is a rigorous academic program designed to enhance our incoming students’ success in the biology major.

The curriculum of the program includes content lectures and test experiences that will help students apply new study skills immediately in real time. To simulate the time constraints of a real college schedule, the students’ days will be packed full of meetings and additional lectures addressing study skills and student life discussions lead by our faculty, staff, deans, counselors, current biology students, and recent biology alumni. Students will also become embedded in campus life and have an early opportunity to become familiar with residence hall living, dining halls, the layout of campus, and begin to forge important relationships among fellow biology majors. The end result is a well-rounded program that allows students a sneak peek at college life and course work.

There is a fee of $250 for participating in this program. This fee includes the education materials, residential housing for students who plan to be campus residents in the Fall 2017 semester, breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all participants, lectures, and workshops. Please submit payment to your Saint Leo University eLion account between July 5 and July 31.

To register for the Biology Boot Camp, please complete the registration form below. You will need to submit your registration fee no later than July 31. Due to the anticipated enthusiastic interest in this Boot Camp, and the large class size of incoming freshmen, we will be limiting attendance to the first 75 students who complete the registration process.
