Undergraduate Certificate - Pastoral Studies

Do you have an interest in ministry? In the 18-credit hour Pastoral Studies Certificate program, you’ll deepen your knowledge of religious faith and develop skills in spiritual direction and service that you can apply to a variety of vocations.

A limited number of undergraduate students may pursue an undergraduate certificate in Pastoral Studies. You must get approval from both the chair of the Philosophy and Religion Department, and the director of the M.A. in Theology Program.

Professional development opportunities

  • University Ministry: Explore eucharistic adoration, Sunday and weekday mass, confession, taize, speakers, workshops, retreats and community service opportunities.
  • Peer Ministry: Work hand-in-hand with RAs to support and guide campus students as a peer minister.
  • Internships: Serve the community through internships at local parishes, a pre-hospital chaplaincy program, St. Petersburg Diocese's youth ministry program, and Catholic Charities.
  • Service trips: Spend your spring break serving the needy in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Atlanta or Ecuador.
  • Co-curricular activities: Become an active member of the Religion honor society, University Ministry, or campus religious organizations, such as Samaritans, Voices of Christ, or Imago Dei.
