The Center for Student Success

Student Success

The Center for Student Success was established in the fall of 2012 to facilitate and ensure the success of all students by creating an environment that promotes and encourages academic, professional, and personal development. Our goal is to support the mission of Saint Leo University and Student Services by working collaboratively to champion efforts for targeted student populations and families in transition to Saint Leo University. In addition, we provide purposeful opportunities for learning, leadership, and personal growth, clarifying values and developing skills that promote global citizenship. The following offices are located within the center:

  • Office of First Year Experience
  • Center for Values, Service, and Leadership
  • Leadership Development Office
  • Office of Veteran Student Services
  • Multicultural and International Services Office

The Office of First Year Experience (FYE) offers a variety of programs and resources to fully engage first-year students in their lifelong educational journeys while assisting with a successful transition to campus. In collaboration with other campus offices, our goal is to help students integrate the learning that takes place through the academic mission of the university and to engage students fully in the campus community. For more information, please contact Jennifer Garcia at (352) 588-8499 or at jennifer.garcia@saintleo.edu.

At the Center for Values, Service, and Leadership, we specialize in developing and offering community-based services that are also educational. Service-learning experiences support Saint Leo University values, learning goals, and outcomes; foster civic responsibility; and develop informed citizen leaders who participate in their communities after graduation in personally and professionally relevant ways. Service learning facilitates an appreciation for the interconnectedness of individuals, the communities in which they live, and the resources required to sustain both. For more information, please contact Dr. Rhondda Waddell at (352) 588-8018 or at rhondda.waddell@saintleo.edu.

The Leadership Development Office provides a variety of leadership activities for students, including a variety of leadership workshops, as well as targeted leadership trainings for both individuals and groups on campus. The office also oversees the LEAD Scholars program, the Leadership Scholarship Program, the Leadership Minor, and Omicron Delta Kappa. The goal of this office is to promote personal and professional leadership growth by combining the academic environment with co-curricular activities. For more information, please contact Dr. Ashlee Castle at (352) 588-8853 or ashlee.castle@saintleo.edu.

The Office of Veteran Student Services provides support, resources, and information to meet the unique needs of student-veterans. Our office provides information on getting started at Saint Leo University, veterans’ benefits, academic policies, and on- and off-campus resources. We understand that balancing college life, military commitments, career, family, and personal responsibilities can be extremely challenging; therefore, Saint Leo University assists helping student-veterans achieve personal, educational, and career goals. For more information, please contact Dr. Jose Coll at (352) 588-8234 or jose.coll@saintleo.edu.

The Multicultural and International Services Office (MISO) aims to assist, nurture, and support international, study abroad, and multicultural students and their peer communities through planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and services that facilitate intellectual, interpersonal, and spiritual development. The MISO strives to stay up-to-date regarding all international regulations and assist Saint Leo in continuing to be a university of international consequence.
