Social Work Program Added at Tampa Education Center

July 21, 2014

Saint Leo University will begin teaching its respected Bachelor of Social Work program at its Tampa Education Center in August, with classes offered during the evenings to suit working adults.

The Tampa Education Center is in the Channelside area at 1120 E. Kennedy Blvd., in Suite 238. The center was established to be supportive of adult learners, many of whom receive financial aid.

Social workers are now in demand across broad sectors of society, and find employment in schools, hospitals, social welfare agencies, faith-based entities, veterans support organizations, and other settings, says Dr. Marguerite McInnis, chair of the undergraduate program.

Saint Leo social work graduates find employment in the field, partly because of the program’s rigorous field placement requirements. In addition, Saint Leo has hosted the annual regional chapter meetings of the National Association of Social Work at University Campus in recent years (pictured). This offers students the chance to learn from professionals working in the field, and serves the broader profession as well. Saint Leo already offers its B.S.W. degree program at its University Campus in Pasco County, at campuses of Pasco Hernando State College, and at the Saint Leo University Gainesville Center.
