Black History Month Events Continue with a Cuba Gooding Movie in Selby Auditorium
February 02, 2010
A showing of the film Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson
Story is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, in
Selby Auditorium. Oscar Award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. stars
in the title role.
Admission is free. The public is invited.
Gifted Hands is a true
and inspirational story.
Ben Carson and his brother grew up in Detroit, raised by a single
mother who was adamant that her sons would fulfill their potential.
Faith helped the family face a series of frightening challenges
from depression and violence to financial hardship.
The film shows how Carson found his way to the place where his
gifts could be put to the highest and best use: in hospital
operating rooms, healing the delicate and injured brains of the
youngest patients.
Join faculty hosts Leilani Goodman and Corey Anthony for the film.
This is one of several Black History Month events sponsored by the
School of Arts and Sciences. More information will be forthcoming
soon.
