Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay Establishes Scholarship at Saint Leo University

April 15, 2015

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay will fund an annual scholarship at Saint Leo University directed to veteran students. The scholarship was established as a way of reaching across cultures, a means to thank our veterans for their service, and to encourage business development activities.

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay will be funded on an annual basis through a $1,000 contribution from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay. It will be awarded based on several criteria. Recipients must:

  • be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at Saint Leo University;
  • have demonstrated financial needs; and
  • be majoring in any of the disciplines within the Donald R. Tapia School of Business and have entrepreneurial interest.

Preference will be given to a veteran of the Iraq and/or Afghanistan.

The award may be renewable, provided the recipient continues to make satisfactory academic progress and meets all the outlined criteria. Selection of the recipient is the responsibility of a faculty/staff selection committee, which is composed of representatives from Veteran Student Services, Student Financial Services, and University Advancement. An annual scholarship is not a permanent fund and is awarded only as long as the donor provides annual gifts to sustain it.
