Christmas Concert Delights
December 02, 2009
An overflow audience
gathered at the Abbey Church of the Holy Cross Tuesday evening for
the annual Saint Leo University Christmas Concert. University
President Arthur F. Kirk, Jr. welcomed guests from the community,
along with students and campus employees, noting how blessed Saint
Leo is to have so many talented musicians within the university
community. Faculty musicians and student groups including the
University Chorus, SLU Jazz Ensemble, Voices of Christ choir, and
Totally T.A.B.S. vocal group performed, along with the Florida
Orchestra Brass Quintet. For the final selection, all the musicians
joined together to perform “Joy to the World.'
After the concert, a large crowd strolled across the center of the
campus caroling, led by the Voices of Christ choir. Upon reaching
Dempsey Plaza, where the university’s manger scene is on display,
Father Stephan Brown, SVD, assistant to the president for
university ministry, led the group in prayer and blessed the
manger. The evening ended on a festive note, with the lighting of
the campus Christmas tree and refreshments for all.
