Donald R. Tapia School of Business Gains Additional Accreditation
January 27, 2015
The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded Saint Leo University accreditation of its business programs.
Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the associate, baccalaureate, and graduate business programs offered in the Donald R. Tapia School of Business at Saint Leo University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
Based on the criteria of the National Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of the institutional leadership, strategic planning processes, relationships with the community, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials and services, and educational support to determine whether the institution offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrates continuous quality improvement.
“Saint Leo University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Initial Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2015 in Philadelphia on June 14. “This accreditation is evidence that Saint Leo is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”
“Securing ACBSP accreditation reflects Saint Leo’s commitment to quality with innovative, industry-led programs designed with academic rigor that prepare graduates with the skills relevant to business needs and today’s global demand,” said Dr. Michael Nastanski, dean of the Donald R. Tapia School of Business.
Associate Dean Dr. Balbir Bal, who led the Tapia School’s accreditation effort, added that “ACBSP’s accreditation philosophy–which is focused on academic excellence and student learning outcomes–establishes an important partnership for continuous improvement and student success.”
The Tapia School also holds accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. The undergraduate Sport Business Program and the MBA with sport business concentration are accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation.
