Dr. Jeff Borden Joins Saint Leo University as Associate Vice President for Teaching and Learning Innovation

Dr. Arthur F. Kirk, Jr., president of Saint Leo University, announced Dr. Jeff Borden will join the leadership team as the new associate vice president for Teaching and Learning Innovation on November 7.

In his new role at Saint Leo as “chief innovation officer,” Dr. Borden will create an innovation incubator, promoting transformational and effective practices, at scale, that are research driven. These strategies bring together neuroscience, learning design, and education technology into an “Education 3.0” platform.

Dr. Borden comes to Saint Leo University after spending 12 years in various management positions with Pearson Education, the world’s leading learning company, with 40,000 employees in more than 80 countries. He most recently served as vice president of Instruction and Academic Strategy.

As the chief academic leader for higher education at Pearson, Dr. Borden provided an academic vision and strategy that encompassed digital learning, neo-millennial methods, authentic assessment, student engagement, retention, and learning analytics.

Prior to that role at Pearson, Dr. Borden served as the senior director of Teaching and Learning and director of Academic Training and Consulting at Pearson eCollege. In addition, he serves as an enriched lecturer at Chaminade University in Honolulu, HI, and adjunct faculty member at Iowa Community College Online Consortium.

He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in human communication from the University of Northern Colorado, and he holds a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Argosy University.

He and his wife, Keena, are the proud parents of a daughter, Addison.
