Family Festival This Weekend at Saint Leo

October 11, 2013

From a hypnotist and a fair to student fine arts presentations, a talent show and athletic events, this year’s 2013 Fall Family Festival hosted by the Campus Activities Board and Student Services, will be a fun-filled, three-day celebration from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13 at Saint Leo University.

The Fall Family Festival is a Saint Leo tradition designed specifically for the parents/guardians, siblings, and family members of Saint Leo students, however some events are open to the general public (refer to specifics outlined later). The festival provides an opportunity for family members to spend time on campus with their student in a fun and relaxed setting and enjoy fellowship with other university families, while learning more about the university.

Friday highlights include the Saint Leo volleyball team competing against Barry University at 7 p.m. in the Marion Bowman Activities Center and a live performance by hypnotist Brad Clark at 8 p.m. in the Student Community Center’s Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom.

A full slate of events is scheduled for Saturday. This year’s program features a wide array of activities including a fair with carnival-type rides and games, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Bowl. The student fine arts presentation, where attendees can enjoy the Saint Leo Singers perform, and a “behind the scenes” look at Dramaturgy’s fall semester performance will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Selby Auditorium.

The volleyball team will return to the court to Florida Tech at 4 p.m. in the activities center followed by a student/faculty/staff talent show in the SCC boardrooms. The day’s events culminate with a fireworks display grand finale at 9:30 p.m. by Pyrotechnics.

The weekend concludes with Mass and brunch on Sunday morning.

The general public is invited to attend the athletic events, the fair, student fine arts presentation, and the fireworks display.

The Trane Stop, Office of Student Financial Aid, and the Book Store, will all have extended hours on Saturday for families with questions or business they would like facilitate while on campus.

Fall Family Festival 2013 promises to be another great experience for the University campus community as students’ families travel from near and far to spend time with their favorite Saint Leo Lion!
