Haunted Britain Trip Thrills Travelers
January 15, 2015
A group of students enrolled in a junior-level interdisciplinary arts class traveled to England and Scotland on an extended Thanksgiving break to explore the sites that inspired some of the finest works of British literature. The group was led by Dr. Elisabeth Aiken and Ms. Karen Bryant, two veteran faculty members who have led several Thanksgiving-break study tours linked to courses in literature and the arts.
Students in the Haunted Britain course of Fall Semester 2014 read selections from the works of William Shakespeare, Emily Bronte, Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle before the trip. They also read pertinent works of history. Travel stops included tours through the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, and then excursions to the English cities of Bath and York, followed by a visit to Stonehenge, and finally, a tour of London.
