Lions End Successful Season with Playoff Loss SLU Falls to Univ. Alabama-Huntsville
May 11, 2005
The Saint Leo University softball team has wrapped up a great campaign after falling to the University of Alabama-Huntsville 5-3 on Friday. The loss was the second of the tournament for SLU, leading to their elimination from the NCAA Division II regional playoffs. Saint Leo finishes the season with a 35-17 record.
The Lions spotted the Chargers a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but bounced back to score three runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. Alabama-Huntsville later tied it in the fourth and went ahead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth.
The highlight of the day may have been when Saint Leo pulled off a triple play in the seventh inning. Freshman third baseman Mo Dominguez snagged a line drive, stepped on third base for the second out and threw to first for the third out.
