March Means Spring Fling
March 07, 2011
After
weeks of study and midterms, the annual Spring Fling celebration at
University Campus gives students the opportunity to take a break,
enjoy each other’s company, and participate in games, prizes,
music, dancing and other recreational opportunities at our lakeside
campus.
The event is a wonderful way to build community and friendships
among the student body. Community is a core value of university
life at Saint Leo. Faculty and staff from campus are invited as
well, although selected activities require a valid student ID
card.
The events are underway and continue through Saturday, March 5.
Bingo–a Saint Leo tradition–is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, at
7:30 p.m. in the Student Community Center Greenfelder-Denlinger
Boardrooms with big prizes available (a valid student ID is needed
to claim prize money). Comedian Jen Kober comes to entertain on
Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m., also in the Student Community
Center.
Saturday is the biggest day of the week. From noon to 4 p.m., the
campus hosts games and novelties, including an obstacle course,
balloon art, student fundraising booths, and an appearance by VJ
Kidd Leow in the “bowl” overlooking Lake Jovita.
Live music performances with artists Amber Lynn Nicol, We Shot the Moon,
and Natalie Stovall
are scheduled for 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. outside the Student Activities
Building. Carnival rides and fair food will also be
available.
The events are sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and Office
of Campus Life. More information is available from Stan Kaszuba,
assistant director of campus life, at stanley.kaszuba@saintleo.edu
or (352) 588-8856.
