Men's Basketball Team Earns NCAA Tournament Bid

For the first time in the 40-plus year history of the program, the Saint Leo men's basketball team has earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament Division II. The Lions (18-11) are the fifth seed in the South Region portion of the "Big Dance".

Saint Leo will face No. 4 seed Florida Tech (22-6) at 9:30 p.m. EST (8:30 p.m. CST), on Saturday, March 10, at Spragins Hall at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. The game will be broadcast on the Rocket Sports and Entertainment Network, which is carried in the University Campus area by Dade City's WDCF at 1350 AM on the radio dial. Rick 'The Rocket' Sassone and 'The Coach' Mike Madagan will have the call starting with the Beef O'Brady's of Dade City Pregame Show 30 minutes prior to tip-off. Saturday's game comes at the start of an eight-team tournament. Semifinals will follow on Sunday, March 11, and the championship game is slated for Tuesday, March 13.

The eight teams playing include the champions of the conference tournaments of the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The University of Alabama-Huntsville has a tournament website posted visit here.
