New Degree Offerings in High-Demand Fields Added in South Carolina
February 11, 2010
Saint Leo University is happy to
announce that South Carolina residents can now earn a bachelor’s
degree in human services administration or in health care
management at the Saint Leo University teaching location in
Sumter.
Courses will begin in March and will be offered evenings and
weekends. Both programs will prepare graduates for careers in
growing occupational areas. “This is a need we are fulfilling in
this community,” said Center Director Frank Osage, Ph.D.
Students who earn the Bachelor of Arts degree in human services
administration will be equipped to fill leadership positions in a
broad variety of social service agencies. Students take courses in
psychology, sociology, and social problems, as well as courses in
management, accounting, and related business topics. The program in
human services administration is offered by the School of Education
and Social Services.
The Bachelor of Science degree in health care management is
designed specifically for students who aspire to management careers
in hospitals; at specialized government health care programs; at
medical laboratories or pharmaceutical companies, or elsewhere in
the expanding field of health care delivery. Students take
foundation courses common to all Saint Leo undergraduate business
degree programs and then complete upper-level courses in health
care organization, health care management, health care law,
community health evaluation standards, and related topics. This
program is offered by the School of Business.
The Sumter teaching location is at Wise Baptist Church, 2751 S.
Wise Drive, and is easily accessible from neighboring communities.
Saint Leo has been serving the community’s continuing education
needs for more than 35 years. The main office for the local SLU
Continuing Education Center is at Shaw Air Force Base. Interested
students are invited to call (803) 666- 2221 or visit: www.saintleo.edu/shaw.
