New Student Orientation for Freshmen - July 11-12
May 28, 2008
Transfer students do not attend this summer orientation event.
This important event is designed to prepare students and parents
for the college experience in the fall. While attendance at the
event is not required, it is strongly encouraged as a variety of
very important details will be handled during the program. Incoming
freshmen unable to attend New Student Orientation must notify their
admission counselor.
Complete details about this year’s "Hollywood"-themed event may be
found online at the Orientation Page. The New Student
Orientation webpage includes comprehensive information on the event
including registration, schedule, fees, required forms, travel and
accommodation information, transportation to/from campus, and much
more.
Incoming freshmen will need to register for the New Student
Orientation event via their eLion accounts. A tutorial on how to
register may be found at the main NSO webpage or here.
As stated in the 2007-2008 Student Academic Catalog, a charge of
$300 will be assessed to each new student’s account as a one-time
only required New Student Orientation fee. This fee includes all
phases of the Orientation program, including housing and
meals.
Students may register up to two (2) guests to attend the parent
schedule of events for a fee of $50 per guest. Limited
accommodations for up to two (2) parents/guests are available on a
first come first serve basis in the campus residence halls for
those wishing to stay on-campus. For those parents/guests wishing
to stay off-campus, please visit the hotel information area of the
New Student Orientation webpage for information on rates and
availability. Students should note
that the guest fee is applicable for all guests, regardless of
whether they opt to stay on- or off-campus. Guest fees may be paid
in advance via check or credit card. Please see the NSO webpage for
payment information.
In addition to registering for the event, there are a number of
important forms that new students and their families need to
review, complete and submit prior to attending New Student
Orientation. These documents are available for review and download
from the New Student Orientation webpage or at here.
