New Teaching Locations at Military Installations
September 08, 2008
Saint Leo University is now on base at two additional military installations in the South, offering classes and distance-learning options to members of the armed forces and civilians.
The university opened a new Regional
Education Center at Columbus AFB in Columbus, Miss., home to the
14th Flying Training Wing of the U.S. Air Force. The wing equips
beginning military pilots. Approximately 3,100 military, civilian,
and contractor personnel work on the installation in eastern
Mississippi.
In South Carolina, the university opened a smaller teaching
location at the U.S. Naval Weapons Air Station Charleston.
Both locations are staffed with local academic advisers.
Saint Leo is a leader in providing higher education options to the
military, and continues to expand its already significant presence
at or near military bases throughout the South and Mid-Atlantic.
During 2008, the university has been celebrating its 35 years of
providing higher education to members of the military.
