October 19, 2012

On October 18, President Arthur F. Kirk, Jr., announced the appointment of Jeanne T. Plecenik to vice president of Business Affairs overseeing finance, regulatory and risk management, University Technology Services, and facilities operations including Plant Operations and Human Resources. She will assume her new duties in January 2013.

Over the past several months, a national search was conducted to find the right person to meet the requirements of this demanding position and to build on the work done by her predecessor, Frank Mezzanini. Among the candidates interviewed, Jeanne Plecenik stood out for a breadth of experience and for her vision of the future of higher education. She is a creative problem solver and has an open, transparent leadership style, and a sense of urgency necessary to lead the division and realize the goals of Vision 2017 for Saint Leo University.

Plecenik has nearly 30 years’ experience in finance and accounting, the last decade of which was at the executive level in higher education. Most recently, she was vice president, treasurer, and chief financial officer at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, a multi-campus private college with 10,500 students. She also served in vice presidential positions at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and The New School in New York City. In addition, she has been an adjunct instructor teaching courses in accounting, taxation, business, money and banking, and computer applications in business.

She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in public accounting from Pace University and an M.B.A. from Mount Saint Mary College. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in finance and accounting at Pace. She has been a certified public accountant since 1983. She says she thrives at institutions that are fast paced and believes that institutions of higher education need to be “nimble and ready to accept change.”
