Saint Leo Office of Residence Life Honored at Florida Resident Assistant Symposium

March 06, 2014

The Saint Leo University Office of Residence Life recently sent a delegation of 12 RA’s and two advisors to the Florida Resident Assistant Symposium (FRAS), a statewide conference, to represent the university against 25 other colleges and universities. These included division rivals Lynn University, Rollins College, and the Florida Institute of Technology to larger institutions such as the University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Central Florida.

According to KJ McConnell, associate director for residence life, the Saint Leo delegation presented nine presentations at the statewide conference and won the top programming awards in two of the four categories and five of the twelve possible presentation awards. “This is an impressive achievement considering there were 60 conference presentations and nearly 300 delegates and advisors in attendance,” said McConnell.

The Saint Leo delegation also won Overall Philanthropy for the third consecutive year (this year for collecting pop tabs to support Ronald McDonald House charities) and the coveted overall conference trophy, the “Spirit Cup,” for a second year against fierce competition for networking, involvement, pride, and enthusiasm throughout the event.

“We were excited to represent the university so well at this event and to show our Lions’ Pride,” concluded McConnell.
