Saint Leo Prepares for Career Expo in Tampa April 4

April 02, 2013

Each year, Saint Leo University’s Career Planning Office joins forces with other quality institutions in a group called the Colleges of Florida Career Consortium to orchestrate an employment fair that matches graduating students and alumni with major employers. The consortium’s Career Expo 2013 will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, April 4, at the University of Tampa, in Plant Hall, in Fletcher Lounge. The street address is 401 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, 33606.

Career Planning is offering transportation from University Campus for a limited number. Vans will leave at 9:30 a.m. and will return no later than 4:00 p.m. All students and alumni in the surrounding area (especially those students and alumni from Educational Centers and the Center for Online Learning) wishing to drive themselves to the event are advised to contact Career Planning at (352) 588-8346 about available parking in the area the day of the event. Options are limited.

Employers from a wide variety of fields will have recruiters at Career Expo 2013 ( to meet with hundreds of new graduates of regionally accredited universities. It can also be beneficial for underclass students to attend, as well, to collect background information about these major employers and to learn more about potential career paths. Additionally, some companies will also be promoting part-time jobs, summer job opportunities, and internships.

The consortium has published an extensive list of tips on what participants can expect to encounter at the expo, how they should be prepared, how they should dress, and how they can best present themselves during their conversations. That guidance is available here:

Should interested students or graduates be unable to attend, there is still another option available. The consortium is expanding its use of technology to accept resumes uploaded to a virtual portal dedicated to this year’s Career Expo. The virtual resume book will be accessible to the participating employers. Contact Career Planning for more information on using this service.
