October 22, 2015

Saint Leo University has announced professional working agreements with four new community partners in the Tampa Bay area. They are: City of Dade City, Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, and Grow Financial Federal Credit Union.

“We are pleased to welcome these new community partners who will work collaboratively with Saint Leo University,” said Dr. Edward Dadez, vice president, Division of Continuing Education, Saint Leo University. “This process is essential to cultivating new relationships with external organizations for the university, and aids in building a stronger sense of community and independence for our students and graduates.”

City of Dade City

Established in 1889, Dade City is located in the rolling hills of eastern Pasco County and is the county seat of Pasco County. It serves as a commercial center for an area encompassing more than 71,000 residents. Dade City’s downtown restaurants and antique gift shops are popular attractions for visitors. The City of Dade City employs approximately 100 people. (

Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA

In 1908, the first YMCA facility was built in Tampa. Over the decades, that first branch has grown to ten family facilities, four wellness centers, two golf facilities, an outdoor adventure camp, and numerous program sites across Hillsborough and eastern Pasco counties. Each location provides wholesome, life-enriching activities. The YMCA is the largest and oldest service organization in America, serving 17 million members in 120 countries. In Tampa Bay, it reaches more than 160,000 individuals each year through membership, programs, and outreach activities in our community. The Tampa YMCA has approximately 200 full-time employees and 800 part-time employees. (

David A. Straz Jr. Center

The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors in July 1987 and has welcomed more than 10 million guests. The venue was named in recognition of financier David A. Straz Jr., who contributed the largest individual philanthropic gift ever to a cultural institution in the Tampa Bay area. The Straz Center is located downtown on a 9-acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River. The 335,000-square-foot venue provides an environment for a variety of productions, including a leading Broadway series, grand opera, and a variety of concerts, performances, and events. The Straz Center employs 293 regular full-time and part-time staff. (

Grow Financial Federal Credit Union

Grow Financial Federal Credit Union was founded in 1955 as the MacDill Air Force Base Federal Credit Union in Tampa. Civilian employees decided a credit union was needed to provide financial services for base personnel. So a broom closet in an office building was cleared, and MacDill Air Force Base Federal Credit Union was born. Now, 60 years later, Grow Financial continues to flourish. It is based in Tampa with 561 regional employees and $1.8 billion in assets. (
