Savannah Education Center Hosts Commencement on Saturday, June 14

The Savannah Civic Center’s Johnny Mercer Theatre is the setting for Saint Leo University’s Savannah Education Center commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 14. Savannah City Council 1st District Alderman Van R. Johnson II (pictured), will deliver the guest commencement address to nearly 130 graduating students at 10 a.m. Students will receive associate and bachelor’s degrees, along with seven students who will receive their master’s degrees. Erin Wilcoxon, was chosen to deliver the farewell address. Class of 2012, Debbie Greene, will offer the alumni welcome and assist in the traditional turning of the tassels.

Saint Leo University has been serving the Savannah area for 40 years and has a long association with the military community. The university began offering distance-learning opportunities to members of the military in 1973 and opened the Savannah Center on Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart in 1975. In September, 2013, an expanded Savannah location was dedicated featuring 10 new classrooms with offices, meeting space, and a common area/break room.

Saint Leo University’s Savannah Education Center is located at 7426 Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, and has a current enrollment of more than 800 civilians and military students.
