University Celebrates Community Service Day
August 30, 2010
Hundreds of volunteers from University
Campus spent Saturday morning working at local nonprofit agencies
in observance of Community Service Day. This volunteer service
opportunity is offered during both the fall and spring semesters.
This year, the fall session was scheduled to round out the first
week of classes. The agencies involved typically had projects ready
to tackle that required groups of workers to complete. The
volunteers chose from opportunities represented at a sign-upon
event held right on campus. Transportation was provided to the work
sites. The community agencies and work sites visited included East
and Central Pasco Habitat for Humanity, the Pioneer Florida Museum
and Village, local schools, area animal shelters, a nursing home,
and many more. Service to community is one of the core values of
Saint Leo University.
