Weather Advisory Update
September 01, 2016
Saint Leo University continues to monitor the path of Hurricane Hermine. While we are grateful that University Campus has weathered the storm well, we are aware that many of our education centers and offices are still in areas being impacted. We continue to watch the storm’s progression carefully, and our thoughts are with those in Hermine’s path as it makes its way north.
University Campus Weather Update
We were prepared for the weather that occurred over the past two days.
Everything went according to our emergency management plans.
We have experienced some heavy bands of rain and some wind. This will continue to happen throughout the day.
We chose to err on the side of caution and remain closed today.
We had some very minor water intrusion into three buildings that has already been cleaned up.
Plant Operations has spent some time this morning picking up a number of tree branches around the campus.
All essential services are open on campus which include Dining Services, Campus Security & Safety, Plant Operations, Mail Center, Bookstore (limited hours), Residence Life, as well as a number of administrative offices are also staffed today.
Everyone is safe and University Campus classes will occur on Tuesday morning.
Please be advised that Saint Leo University Campus remains closed on Friday, September 2. Classes are canceled and offices are closed.
Saint Leo continues to monitor the path of Tropical Storm Hermine. While University Campus may experience significant rain this afternoon, due to the campus’ location away from the coast, there will be no need to evacuate or seek shelter beyond the campus.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding the canceling of classes and closing of offices for Friday, September 2. When a decision is made, an update will be posted here.
Education Center students should continue to check their specific center pages on our website for more information.
