Campus Security & Safety

The Office of Campus Security & Safety is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with 24-hour telephone service always staffed for immediate response. The office is located near the entrance to the University.

• Officers patrol campus by foot, bike and marked vehicle.
• Blue-light emergency call boxes dispatch directly to Campus Safety.
• All buildings are secure 24/7, and student IDs access only their own residence hall.
• Security cameras cover residence halls, common areas, parking lots and paths.
• Parking permits are required, and spots are unassigned; however, special parking privileges are available for disabled students.

Emergency Notification

Campus Safety issues advisories only in cases where there is a genuine need to provide immediate information to the Saint Leo campus community.

• Audible Mass Notification: A University-wide audible mass notification system contacts the campus community via audio messages in the event of an emergency. These emergency notification systems, including residence hall fire alarms, are tested periodically.
• BlackBoard Connect: This program delivers messages to the campus student body by telephone, email or text message, or by all three methods.

Wellness & Counseling

Saint Leo provides easily accessible, high-quality medical and mental health services for all members of our student community. If a student is sick or injured and it is after hours, they should contact their RA, Hall Directors or Campus Safety.

• Health & Wellness Center: Provides general medical services for acute minor illnesses and injuries, as well as assistance with doctor appointments, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and residence hall visits for ill students. Visit the Health & Wellness Center.
• Student Counseling Center: Offers a holistic, solution-focused approach to therapy. Counseling is 100% confidential, and free of charge to fulltime Saint Leo students. Visit the Counseling Services.
• Health Insurance: All fulltime undergraduate students attending Saint Leo—both campus residents and commuters—are required to carry health insurance. Find out more.
• Nearby Medical Facilities: The closest hospital is Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City—a 10 minute-drive.

Drug & Alcohol Policy

Students are expected to exhibit behavior that is appropriate and consistent with that of members of a community of scholars. Individuals who attend Saint Leo University agree to accept and abide by the policies listed in the Code of Conduct.

• Alcohol: Florida State requires that a person much be at least 21 years of age in order to possess or consume alcoholic beverages. Saint Leo does not condone any drinking behaviors that may lead to or are detrimental to the health and welfare of the individual, student group or the university community. Furthermore, we encourage healthy, low-risk, safe choices for the use or non-use of alcohol by those of legal age.
• Illegal Substances: Saint Leo is unrelenting in our efforts to maintain a drug-free campus. Possession, use or distribution of drugs is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
