Overview

You may have firm career plans or no idea. Whatever it is that brings you to a discussion with one of us at Career Planning, we are here to encourage and support you.

What to expect:

  • Appointments can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 50 minutes, depending on your needs
  • Our career advisors will take some time at the beginning of the appointment to get to know you and what kind of help you are looking for; together, you’ll decide on a plan that best suits your needs
  • We are impartial. We genuinely don’t mind what your career ideas are, if any. This is a place to come and be honest about what matters to you. We are here to help, not judge.

What to bring to your first appointment?

Resume-Writing Appointment: Please bring a list of previous
and current jobs, volunteer activities, clubs, and leadership roles.

All other appointments: Just bring yourself!

What NOT to expect:

  • A 'solution' in one session. Depending on your needs, it may be helpful to have several discussions, so don't think of your appointment as a one-time thing. Continue to check in with us regularly.
  • To walk out with a job. We will provide you with job and internship searching resources so you can be prepared to find and apply for them on your own.
  • Someone to tell you what to do. We will give you information, resources, and a listening ear, so you can make the final decision.

Scheduling an Appointment

Students and alumni can schedule an appointment by phone, email, or by coming to our office on campus (Student Activities Building, Suite 203). Drop-ins are welcome, although appointments are preferred to ensure that we can give you all the focused time you need.
