Petty Officer Kevin Jones '08 Honored with Military Service Award

Langley, Ft. Lee, and Ft. Eustis alumni gathered for a luncheon reception on August 22. More than 50 alumni and friends met at Nick's Riverwalk Restaurant in York Town, Virginia, to network, socialize and also to honor Petty Officer Kevin Marquette Jones '08 with the Saint Leo Alumni Association Military Service Award.

Kevin Jones recently earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree while serving his country on arduous sea duty onboard the USS Mitscher, a guided missile destroyer homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. The Military Service Award is presented to alumni in recognition of their outstanding record in one of the U.S. military services in either active or reserve capacities.

Petty Officer Jones earned his degree online while deployed on two separate occasions in 2005 and 2007. During this time he maintained a 3.67 average and proved to be a cornerstone for his division onboard ship. Jones has been serving his country in the Navy for over 18 years.

Currently Jones is stationed at Surface Combat Systems Center in Wallops Island. He continues to serve his country while pursuing a Masters Degree in Teaching at Saint Leo's online MAT program.
